Santa Fe, NM

Yesterday we explored the wonders of Santa Fe. We had a great time walking around the cute historic square and it’s adobe style buildings. I had two highlights all around art.

First was going to the Georgia O’Keefe Museum. It was such a treat to see her works in person, watch a video on her, ask questions to the security guards about her work and just take some time to appreciate her great paintings, drawings, photos, and even sculpture.

Secondly we walked to a ton of art galleries. Canyon Road is the place to go. Some highlights…

• Reflection Gallery had a bronze sculpture by Moana Ponder called Flight of the Nightbird. It stood 42” tall and if I had the money it would be coming home with me but alas I had to leave it there for someone else to purchase it.

• Stumble across a black and white photography exhibit highlighting James Dean by photographer Richard C. Miller at the Monroe Gallery.

• Luscious thick abstract oil paintings at Carol Kucera Gallery.

• Some amazing bison oil painting by Keith Alan Huey and Native American sculptures and animals by Curt Mattson at the Hueys Fine Art Gallery

• Bronze horse sculptures at Adieb Khadoure Fine Art Gallery

• Horse photography at Canyon Road Fine Art Gallery

• Amazing fanciful paintings at the Chalk Farm Gallery

• Other galleries: Charles, Azbell Gallery, Waxlander Gallery, Giacobbe Fritz Fine Art Gallery and many more.

We then took the straight endless road of Highway 258 to a little town of Vaghn where we spent the night.
